For those of our readers who are too young to remember milestones, they were posts on the side of the road signifying how many miles to the nearest large town. They also marked how many miles from the previous town. These milestones were very important when most travel on the road were horses and carts. Not so important now when the GPS in our cars tells us everything we need to know about the road ahead.
In life and in business, milestones mark significant events and achievements. Unlike the original mileposts, they are still relevant today. New clients often come to see us when they have experienced a significant event in their lives. These might include a new job or promotion, a new baby, buying a house, getting married, receiving an inheritance or retirement.
There are also milestones in business. When starting Strategic Financial Solutions back in 1995, I had three core objectives. The first one was simply survival. The statistics were against us. Fifty percent of new businesses fail in the first five years. We achieved that. The second core objective was to create a high quality service proposition for our clients where they see value. That, as you can imagine, has been an evolving process over time. The third core objective was to develop a highly qualified, respected team who could work together to provide a great outcome for our clients. The Corona virus crisis and has tested us greatly and we've come through.
I want to thank sincerely our wonderful clients our fabulous team in getting us to where we are today as we celebrate 25 years in business. It's a great milestone, one definitely worth celebrating. It is so easy to ignore such milestones when the world appears to be in such chaos. Nelson Mandela's quote is worth repeating in these difficult times. He said, “remember to celebrate milestones as you prepare for the road ahead”. Twenty five years is not the end of our journey. As we are celebrating, we are also planning the road ahead ensuring Strategic Financial Solutions remains at the forefront in providing financial advice. This new website is but one visible example of that plan.
